Parent Responsibilities

Parent helping

Three parents are scheduled to work each school day in the class.  Parent helpers assist the teacher with activities, bring snacks, and clean up at the end of class. Depending on which   class your child attends (2 day or 3 day), parent-helping averages about two to four times each month.  Parents (as well as grandparents, caregivers and other people important to your child) are always welcome in the classroom.  Parents are encouraged to contribute their talents and ideas to the classroom.

Committee/Board position

The tasks of running the school are shared among parents. Each family is either on the Board (e.g., President, Secretary and Treasurer) or on a committee (e.g., newsletter, hospitality, maintenance).

Fundraising

The school depends on fundraising events to meet expenses. Each family is expected to contribute towards the total fundraising goal for the year. Currently, a significant percentage of our funds are raised through scrip. Learn more about SCRIP.  We have also added Affiliates for fundraising; by using the AFFILIATE links, the school recieves a portion of sales.

General meetings

The parents meet several times a year.  The meetings are usually a combination of business, socializing, and parent education (speakers and/or discussion). Childcare is provided in the classroom for a nominal fee.

More information can be found in the parent handbook.
