About Tillamook Preschool
Portland Tillamook Preschool provides a play-based curriculum, designed to nurture your child’s social, emotional, physical and intellectual development. We welcome and encourage families of all backgrounds and abilities, and our curriculum reflects this anti-bias philosophy. At Tillamook, children practice respecting themselves and others, making choices and resolving conflicts in non-violent ways.
Class options and hours
We have two class options:
- a three-day class that meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday
- a two-day class that meets Tuesday and Thursday
All classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Parent helpers must arrive by 8:30 a.m. and stay after class to clean up).
Multi-age program
We offer a mixed-age program for children ages two and three-quarters to five years old. Mixing ages is a highly effective way for children to learn and play together, and our teacher is enthusiastic and knowledgeable about this approach. Both our two-day and our three-day classes are multi-age programs.
Class size/ages
We enroll up to 19 children in each class. Both classes are carefully balanced by age and gender. For the the 2010-2011 school year enrollment, we will divide children into groups based on their birth year—2005, 2006 or 2007. Our board will choose space allocations in each class for each birth year.
Calendar
The school year begins the first week of September and continues until the end of May. We follow the Portland Public Schools calendar for holidays, vacations and teacher planning days.
Non-discrimination
Portland Tillamook Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation or family composition in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, financial aid programs and other school administered programs.
