Hours

We have two class options. A three day class that meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday and a two day class that meets Tuesday and Thursday. All classes meet from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Parent helpers must arrive by 8:30 a.m. and stay after class to clean up).

Class size/ages

We enroll up to 18 children each day. Each day’s class is carefully balanced by age and gender. For the purposes of the enrollment process in the 2007-2008 school year, we are dividing children into groups based on their birth year—2002, 2003 or 2004. Our board will choose allocations of spaces in each class for each birth year.

Calendar

The school year begins the first week of September and continues until the end of May. We follow the Portland Public Schools calendar for holidays, vacations and teacher planning days.

Registration

In January, we begin accepting registration forms from returning families and in February from alumni members. An open house will be held Saturday March 1, from 10 am - 1 pm, at which time we accept applications from the general public. Applications are available on that date, and from the website probably one month prior. The application deadline to participate in our admission lottery is Saturday March 10th. Applications must be in our PO BOX by that day. Notification will be given by the 17th. Applicants must be 3 by December 31, 2008. If you received this by mail, we have added you to the mailing list for the Open House flyer.

Tuition and fees

An application form and a non-refundable fee of $20 are required to reserve a spot in class. (If you are on the waiting list, you only need to pay when offered a space in the school. Tuition for the 2007-2008 school year is $82 per month for the two-day option and approximately $110 per month for the three-day option. (Note that tuition includes the cost of insurance).

This year, there is also a $20 “memory book” fee and a $5 emergency kit fee. A non-refundable start-up fee of $80 is due on May 1, for preparation salary and rent for two weeks in August, supplies and criminal background checks. Normally, there is a slight tuition increase from year to year, to be finalized by the board in April. A limited amount of financial aid is available. Further information and applications for financial aid are available upon request.

Location

The preschool is located in a facility rented from Laurelhurst Presbyterian Church at 935 NE 33rd St. (at Pacific St). We have no religious affiliation to this or any other church.

Here’s something to feel good about!  Portland Tillamook recently earned an “Eco-Healthy Childcare” certification from the Oregon Environmental Council.

The next General Meeting is at 6:30 on Thursday, October 18.

On Sunday, October 21, there will be a family picnic potluck at the Pumpkin patch from 3:30 to 5:30. Please sign up to bring a potluck item in the hallway.
